Key Takeaways
  • Starbucks visits on PSL Day 2026 were 26.1% above the year-to-date daily average and 35.5% above the average Tuesday — the chain's biggest Tuesday of the year.
  • Launch-day traffic beat PSL Day 2025 by 7.0%.

Autumn, Apparently

Record heat waves notwithstanding, Starbucks declared the start of fall last week with the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte – and foot traffic data shows that customers showed up in force.

Pumpkin Power Keeps Growing

Daily visits to Starbucks on August 25th – when the chain brought back the PSL alongside new pumpkin drinks and the cider-inspired Chaider – came in 26.1% above its 2026 year-to-date daily average. Visits were also 35.5% above Starbucks’ average Tuesday, making August 25th the chain’s biggest Tuesday of the year so far.

And pumpkin’s pull keeps getting stronger. Traffic on this year’s launch day topped PSL Day 2025 by 7.0%, aligning with Starbucks’ announcement that it was the chain’s biggest PSL launch day ever in North America.

Promotion Stacking for the Win

The outsized success of this PSL Day once again highlights the strength of Starbucks' promotion-stacking playbook – using closely timed launches to keep excitement building.

Just ten days before PSL Day, the one-weekend-only return of the Unicorn Frappuccino sent visits soaring 44.1% above the daily average and drove Starbucks' best North America sales weekend ever, with more than 2 million beverages sold. It's the same promotion-stacking strategy the chain used last fall, when the viral Bearista cup landed days before Red Cup Day and helped power one of the biggest Red Cup Days on record.

A Latte to Look Forward To

Pumpkin season is only getting started. And with back-to-back launches driving outsized traffic, Starbucks is showing how effectively it can turn limited-time moments into repeat reasons to visit.
