Placer's Responsible AI Principles
At Placer, we use machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver industry-leading insights into locations, brands and enterprises. We are excited about the potential of generative AI (GenAI) to further benefit our customers, and we are committed to its responsible development and use. These principles guide our approach, ensuring we address potential challenges and use AI ethically, effectively and responsibly.
Fairness and Bias Mitigation
We recognize that AI tools can reflect and amplify existing biases. We are committed to mitigating this risk by regularly monitoring our AI training practices and actively de-biasing AI outputs where appropriate. Our core strategy for ensuring fairness is to continuously validate our modeled foot traffic data against "ground truth" data to maintain accuracy.
Transparency and Accountability
We believe in building trust through transparency. We are committed to being clear with our customers about when we use GenAI in our customer facing products. We maintain mechanisms to solicit and incorporate feedback from users and advisors to continuously improve our AI systems. We commit to being responsible custodians of data, safeguarding its integrity and using it only for legitimate purposes.
Privacy by Design
Our longstanding commitment to privacy is fundamental to our AI development. Our AI tools are designed to identify patterns and insights about places and brands, not individuals. We maintain strong data governance practices to prevent personally identifiable information or customers’ confidential data from being used in general model training.
All new GenAI-powered features are subject to the same strict privacy measures we apply across the entire Placer platform.

Security and Safety
We are responsible custodians of our customers' data and are committed to safeguarding its integrity. We employ advanced security measures to protect our AI systems from unauthorized access or manipulation and use safeguards to mitigate the risk of harmful content or "hallucinations".
Our industry-leading security practices include vendor vetting, encryption, access controls, secure data storage and a robust System Development Life Cycle.

Responsible Use of Placer's AI Features
We are committed to ensuring Placer's GenAI capabilities are used for legitimate, ethical purposes. Accordingly, our platform may not be used for military or law enforcement applications, to generate deceptive content, or to produce reports on sensitive locations, including places of worship, preK-12 schools, and other categories defined in Placer's Trust Center.
Placer’s internal AI governance committee reviews these principles regularly to ensure they remain current. If you have feedback or concerns regarding our AI policies, please contact us at Compliance@placer.ai.
