Banner Health, a nonprofit health system operating 33 hospitals across six states, faced a critical decision: expand in a suburban town with an existing facility or establish a new site in a larger city nearby. With rents higher in the larger city and potential delays in site availability, a suburban site could be advantageous, as long as visitors would make the drive.
Placer showed that 80% of visitors to Banner’s suburban clinic already traveled from the large city nearby, giving Banner the confidence to lease a 15,000-square-foot expansion in the suburban location. The upside: a 12.5% lower cost and 12 month faster launch compared to opening a new site in the larger city.
