When looking at the greater U.S. mall landscape, we’re confronted with a more complex picture of the “Retail Apocalypse.” While many U.S. malls are indeed struggling, others are finding innovative ways to not only survive, but to thrive.
We analyzed the impact of major renovations on a mall’s health, as well as the differences in decline between each mall tier. While Class C malls are certainly showing signs of a demise, Class A and “Trophy” malls have managed to stay ahead of the grim retail forecast and continue to grow their traffic.
We examined foot traffic and consulted with industry experts to understand which consumer behavior trends are critical for these malls to take advantage of in order for them to stay ahead.
